BJP general secretary Ram Madhav on September 4 said that BJP in Assam is on a stronger position than 2016 and the party will win 100 plus seats in the upcoming election in the state.

Addressing the first executive meeting of the newly-formed state committee of Assam BJP, Madhav said that in 2016, the situation was not conducive for the party, as it had just lost elections in Bihar and Delhi, but in spite of that the party stormed to power in Assam with 86 seats with its alliance partners.

Taking a potshot at the Congress-AIUDF alliance, Madhav, who is also in-charge of the northeast, said in politics arithmetic does not work it’s the chemistry which works and BJP knows how to get around with partners.

”Congress-AIUDF alliance is a combination of corruption and infiltration and BJP has no fear from them,” Madhav said.

”Congress is in a very bad shape now. They have started writing love letters in praise of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi,” he added.

Further attacking Congress, he added that if things remained as they were now, the condition of the party won’t see any improvement till 2029, let alone 2024. Madhav also termed both the Congress and AIUDF as foreign parties.

The meeting was also attended virtually by union textiles minister Smriti Irani, senior leaders of Assam, including state party president Ranjeet Kumar Dass, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
