BJP president JP Nadda in Imphal on December 30

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president, JP Nadda, on December 30 claimed that the BJP-led government has brought developmental activities on the right track in Manipur.

Nadda arrived in Imphal on December 30 for a few hours visit to the poll-bound state. This is the fourth time JP Nadda visited the state in recent times. Soon after his arrival, Nadda visited Kakching district headquarters where he flagged off a “yuva rally”.

Addressing the rally, the BJP national president claimed that the BJP-led government in Manipur has brought back the pace of development in the state. While highlighting the “changes brought about in the state under the BJP on all fronts”, Nadda asked the youth participating in the rally to recall the “dark period” of the state under the Congress.

He said that what Congress had given in the state was “instability, insurgency and inequality”, while the BJP-led government had initiated “innovation and infrastructure”.

Nadda then claimed that under the leadership of chief minister N Biren Singh “peace has been restored” in the state. “Frequent bandhs, blockades and strikes in the state during the Congress regime have now become a thing of the past,” he added.

Acknowledging the talents of the youth of the state in sports, he said that the BJP-led government has developed many sports stadiums. He further claimed that the BJP also brought railways in the state.

Nadda also hailed chief minister N Biren Singh government for its “positive response” to Centre’s initiative of improving sex ratio under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao‘ programme.

“There is a mark improvement in sex ration. It is the fruit of sincere effort of the N Biren Singh government,” he said.

Nadda then said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre is giving special emphasis on women empowerment. “The appointments of India’s first women defense, education, external affairs and finance ministers are a clear instance of the Modi government’s commitment towards women empowerment”, he also said.

The BJP chief added that as many as 12 women are in the council of ministers of the Modi government. This showed that the BJP government always gave top priority to women’s empowerment.

Meanwhile, before concluding his visit to Manipur, Nadda also convened a meeting with leaders of the state unit of the party that discussed the party election strategies. He left Imphal by 7 pm on December 30.

Elections to the 60-seat Manipur assembly are likely to be held in February-March next year along with the assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa.

In the backdrop of the upcoming elections, national leaders of the BJP are visiting the state frequently. Nadda had also visited the state last week.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to arrive in Imphal on January 4 on a one-day visit to the state. He is scheduled to address a party election rally in Imphal besides inaugurating some developmental projects.
