Pabitra Margherita

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the name of Pabitra Margherita as the party’s candidate for the Rajya Sabha election in Assam. BJP ally UPPL is expected to contest the second seat.

The BJP on March 18 announced Pabitra Margherita’s candidature.

The election for the Rajya Sabha is scheduled for March 31.

Former president of Jyoti Chitraban and present spokesperson of thew Assam state BJP, Pabitra Margherita took charge as Member Secretary of the State Level Advisory Committee (SLAC) for Student and Youth Welfare in November last year.

Meanwhile, Badruddin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has extended support to the Congress in one of the two Rajya Sabha seats from Assam.

Rajya Sabha elections in Nagaland, Tripura

The BJP on March 18 also named its candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections in Nagaland and Tripura.

The saffron party named S Phangnon Konyak as its candidate for Nagaland while Manik Saha will represent the party in Tripura.
