The BJP released its manifesto for the ensuing two-phase legislative assembly elections in Manipur.

BJP national president JP Nadda, who arrived in Imphal on February 17, released the election manifesto at a function held at Hotel Classic Grande, Imphal, in the presence of several leaders of the party.

Among others, the function was attended by Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, BJP state president A Sharda Devi, union minister of state for external affairs and education RK Ranjan, MP Leishemba Sanajaoba and BJP (Manipur in-charge) Sambit Patra.

“The BJP manifesto reflects the culture of the people of Manipur and their aspirations,” Nadda said in his address after releasing the manifesto.

He also said that the manifesto is not a “piece of paper” but a commitment that the party will translate into work in the next five years. The BJP national president added that the manifesto was prepared after due consultations and suggestions from the intellectuals, educationists and sportspersons across the 60 assembly constituencies of the state.

JP Nadda claimed that after the BJP came to power, Manipur has recovered from instability to stability, from insurgency to peace, from divisive politics to a united Manipur.

“There is rule of law in the state”, the BJP leader further claimed, while alleging that there were a series of fake encounters in the state during Congress rule. “We have seen a drug menace in the past. But, now we have seen the state is committed to zero tolerance for drugs,” he further claimed.

The BJP leader added that Manipur was in such a stage that there was corruption and commission. “But today, there is good governance,” he added.

Nadda said that Manipur has witnessed immense developmental changes in the last five years under the BJP-led coalition government under the leadership of CM Biren Singh.

“The state was known for frequent strikes and blockades. Now, these have become things of the past, and developments are taking place in a fast pace,” he further said.

Nadda then said that one All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMMS) will be set up in the state.

“This will provide the best world-class medical treatment to the people of Manipur,” he said.

In a bid to woo voters, the BJP national president announced providing free laptops to all students who passed higher secondary education for their further studies.

Speaking on the occasion, Biren Singh claimed that the manifesto released was the first of its kind a political party has ever prepared with suggestions and opinions of various sections of the society and intellectuals from various fields.

“In a first of its kind exercise, the opinions of every stakeholder were sought extensively from every corner of the state. The BJP election manifesto 2022 truly reflects the aspirations of every Manipuri,” Biren Singh said.

While asserting that BJP will retain power this time by winning over 40 seats, Biren Singh assured that the party will translate into work the promises made in the manifesto in the next five years.
