BJP strengthens democratic secularism in Assam: CM Sonowal

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal while seeking votes for BJP candidate of Dholai constituency Parimal Suklabaidya on March 30 said that in the last five years, the BJP-led government in the state worked relentlessly for the equal development of all districts of the state.

Addressing a rally at Dholai in Cachar district on March 30, CM Sarbananda Sonowal said that the BJP-led government worked satisfactorily for safeguarding the lives and properties, pride and prestige of all sections of the people cutting across all language, caste, creed and community. “In the last five years the government worked unrelentingly to strengthen the bonhomie existing among all sections of the people,” he said.

Sonowal added that during the Congress regime, the mutual co-existence of the state was at its lowest ebb. “During the Congress rule, there was crime, hatred, corruption, nepotism which plagued the state. There was strife in the name of ethnicity, religion etc which dented the secular edifice of the state. We, immediately after coming to power, reverted this scenario and strengthened the age-old camaraderie,” Sonowal said.

Sonowal also said that if the BJP-led government retains power, the government’s endeavour of allotting land pattas to all sections of the people would be intensified. Stating that the BJP-led government enhanced the daily wage of the tea workers, Sonowal said that the Congress government even after being in power for nearly 70 years did not do substantially for raising the wage of the tea workers. Instead, the party shed crocodile tears, Sonowal added.

He also said that in the last five years, the BJP-led government increased the wage by Rs 80 as the party after retaining power would increase the wage of the tea workers many folds.

BJP-led govt gave top priority to Barak Valley: CM Sarbananda Sonowal

Sonowal said that the development of Barak Valley witnessed emphatic growth after BJP came to power, as against the Congress rule which paid no importance to the development of Barak Valley. The chief minister added that his government laid importance for the infrastructural development of all the three districts of the valley.

Giving a snapshot of the party’s agenda for the development of Barak Valley, Sonowal said that three more bridges will be built over the Barak to improve the connectivity of all areas across the river. He also said that considering the potential of agriculture in Barak Valley, the BJP-led government would set up an agriculture university along with creating vocations for 10 lakh youths of the Barak Valley region.

Earlier, Sonowal addressed poll rallies at Ratabari and North Karimganj. He also addressed election campaigns in Silchar, Udarbond and Sonai and canvassed for votes in favour of the candidates belonging to BJP and its allies.
