Bodo Women Justice Forum President Anjali Daimary on August 24 joined the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), stepping into active politics ahead of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and Assam Assembly elections.

Sister of Bodo leader Ranjan Daimary, Anjali Daimary formally joined the BPF in the presence of party supremo and BPF Chief Hagrama Mohilary and Rajya Sabha member Biswajit Daimary, among others.

Daimary said after being associated with women’s rights issues for several decades, it was time to enter active politics and take up a more proactive role.

The BTC elections, which were due in April, had to be deferred due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while the state Assembly polls are due next year.

The BPF has been in power in the BTC since its formation nearly two decades back, while it has also been part of the ruling coalitions at Dispur, both when the Congress was in power and also with the BJP currently.
