The Union home ministry has requested the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to inquire into the case of the deaths of Rosy Sangma and Samuel Sangma, a PIB release stated on July 13.

The case relates to death of Rosy Sangma at a hospital in Gurgaon on June 24 after she had complained of a medical condition. Later, Samuel Sangma, a relative of Rosy Sangma, suspecting medical negligence, had an altercation with doctors and staff of the hospital.

On the next day, June 25 the Delhi Police received information regarding the death of Samuel Sangma in New Delhi.

“The family of the deceased has alleged that Rosy Sangma had died due to negligence on part of the hospital. They also attributed some alleged foul play in the death of Samuel Sangma by the hospital personnel,” the release stated.

Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio thanked Union home minister Amit Shah for ordering the CBI inquiry. “Appreciate Shri @AmitShah ji and the Govt. of India for constituting an inquiry into the alleged mysterious circumstances leading to the death of late Samuel and late Rosy Sangma. I hope quick justice will be delivered,” he tweeted.

The deceased belonged to Dimapur in Nagaland.

Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma also thanked Amit Shah for initiating the CBI inquiry. “Would like to thank
@AmitShahji and the Home Ministry for constituting an inquiry into the alleged mysterious circumstances leading to the death of Lt Samuel and Lt Rosy Sangma,” he tweeted.

Earlier, Sangma had requested Union home minister Amit Shah for a thorough investigation into the deaths.
