Following abduction of a 17-year-old boy of Arunachal Pradesh reportedly by Chinese PLA, the Congress party demanded that the centre should immediately start bilateral talks with China and bring back the teenager safely.

Congress MP and former president of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Ripun Bora said that the Union government should ensure that there should not be any tension along the international border from Chinese PLA.

“Yesterday, the PLA had abducted a 17-year-old Arunachali young boy. We demand that the Government of India should immediately start bilateral dialogue with China and bring back safely the young boy. The government should ensure that there should not be any tension in the border from Chinese army,” Ripun Bora said.

Criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress MP said that Modi always speaks that he is having 56 inches of chest but what happened at Galwan prove otherwise.

“In past one month, our Congress party is repeatedly talking about Chinese intrusion, Chinese activities in our border. Recently they have erected one bridge and opened it. They (Chinese army) are approaching our border and we have been bringing these things to the notice of the prime minister and the government. But the government is keeping silence,” Ripun Bora said.

On January 19, Arunachal Pradesh BJP MP Tapir Gao tweeted: “Chinese #PLA has abducted Sh Miram Taron, 17 years of Zido vill. yesterday 18th Jan 2022 from inside Indian territory, Lungta Jor area (China built 3-4 kms road inside India in 2018) under Siyungla area (Bishing village) of Upper Siang dist, Arunachal Pradesh.”

On the other hand, Tezpur-based defence PRO Lt Col Harsh Vardhan Pande said that on receipt of the information about reported capture of the teenager of Arunachal Pradesh’s Zido by the Chinese army, the Indian army has immediately contacted Chinese PLA through hotline and sought assistance from PLA to locate and return the young boy as per protocol.

The Tezpur-based defence PRO tweeted: “17-yr-old youth Miram Tarom of #Zido #ArunachalPradesh was reportedly captured by #PLA across the LAC. On receipt of info, #IndianArmy imdtly contacted #PLA through #hotline. Assistance from #PLA has been sought to locate & return him as per protocol.”
