Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on February 29 launched a fresh attack on the Congress saying the party, which was earlier in power at the Centre, never bothered to understand the people of the Northeast and always treated the region as money minting machine.

Khandu made the statement while speaking at a BJP meeting of Mebo Assembly constituency at Ngopok village under East Siang district in Arunachal Pradesh. “Earlier parties in power at the centre such as Congress always treated Northeast as money minting machine. Congress never bothered to understand the people of Northeast. So when they know nothing about us, how can they provide solution,” Khandu said.

Stating that BJP as a party never indulges in petty politics when it comes to welfare and development of its people, Khandu claimed that development has speed up in the region since the BJP came to power at the Centre and issues such as Bru and Bodo were solved.

“BJP is a party with a difference and always follows the spirit of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’. BJP is a party that always tries to be in sync with the aspirations of northeastern people,” the CM said.

Informing that the BJP government in Arunachal Pradesh is seriously putting efforts to put the system on right track, Khandu said, “For the mechanism of deliverance to be effective, the entire bureaucratic machinery and government employees must work towards achieving it. Politicians alone cannot achieve it. Till today many of the beneficiaries are unable to reap the full benefit of the important state and central flagships programmes.”

The CM also said that in coming days ‘Sarkar Aapke Dwar’ will be carried out with renewed vigour. For transparency, Khandu assured to strengthen the third party monitoring by BJP. He said the party will keep track and monitor the effectiveness in the implementation of government schemes and developmental works.
