Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on April 1 said that his government has been working to render equal development, equal prestige and dignity to all sections of the people of the state.

Addressing an election rally at Barpeta constituency, Sonowal said that the BJP-led government has been working to provide adequate protection to all people belonging to Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jain and Buddhism to ensure their equal development. “Nobody is deprived of government schemes. All government schemes were implemented in all areas of the state without making any discrimination in the name of religion or other affiliations. Adhering to prime minister Narendra Modi’s universal policy of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikash and Sabka Viswas, our government has been working to stimulate welfare of all sections of the people of the state living in all the 34 districts of the state,” CM Sarbananda Sonowal said.

He further said that during the Congress regime, the party deprived western Assam areas of development. However, in stark contrast the BJP-led government immediately after coming to power took special steps for the development of western Assam. His government took initiatives for the infrastructural development of western Assam districts.

Sonowal said that the BJP-led government, apart from laying foundation for Multi-Modal Logistic Park at Jogighopa, also started work for Dhubri Medical College, Asia’s longest Dhubri-Phulbari bridge over the Brahmaputra, among others.

Moreover, BJP-led government, for the academic development of the girls belonging to minority community, established girls’ college in minority-dominated areas. “Because of our government’s intense desire for the development of the people of religious minorities, the government set up 21 residential schools in the minority-dominated areas,” Sonowal said.

He also said that the BJP-led government conduced survey in the char areas for allotting land pattas to the people belonging to minority areas. As against the divisive policies of the Congress, the BJP-led government united all sections of the people and strengthened the bond of friendship and camaraderie in the state.

Later, Sonowal also addressed poll rallies in East Goalpara, Boko, Chhaygaon and West Guwahati constituencies for the candidates of the BJP and its allies.
