Former Rajya Sabha MP and former president of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee Ripun Bora who joined All India Trinamool Congress said that Congress is not in a position to fight BJP’s growth in the country.
Bora said that there is a lot of infighting in the congress party.
“The way BJP has grown has threatened the social fabric of the country. Congress being the grand old party should have fought the BJP but there was a lot of fighting within the party. I am convinced only TMC can fight BJP,” Ripun Bora said on April 18.
Bora accompanied by his wife and son had met Trinamool’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in Kolkata and formally joined the party on April 17.
Trinamool MPs Derek O’Brien and Sushmita Dev, who was also in the Congress earlier, were also present.
“I was associated with the congress party for nearly 40 years. I’ve no grievance against congress and its leaders. The respect for the senior leaders – Sonia and Rahul Gandhi will always be there,” Bora added.
“I resigned on a few policy and ideological matters”.
The 66-year-old leader also served as an education minister in Assam.
