The Congress party in Manipur on May 16 said that the appointment of disqualified ex-MLA Th Shyamkumar as advisor to the chief minister is illegal.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh appointed Th Shyamkumar and K Leishiyo as advisors to the chief minister.
Chief Secretary Suresh Babu issued two separate orders on May 15 in this regard.
N Bupenda Meitei, Spokesperson of Congress, on May 16 alleged that under Article 361B of Indian Constitution the appointment is illegal.
He questioned the roles of the guardians of the law and the cabinet.
Shyamkumar was disqualified recently by Speaker Y Khemchand under the Tenth Schedule. He took oath as a minister in the BJP-led government even though he won as a Congress candidate from Andro.
