The Congress party will hold yatras in Assam starting March 11 to carry forward its poll promise of ‘five guarantees’ to the voters in the state.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee on March 10 stated that the launch of second-leg of yatras on the keynote of the party’s ‘Congressor 5 Guarantee’ campaign will begin from March 11.

“After the success of the ‘Axom Basaon Ahok’ (Come Let’s Save Assam) bus-yatra, the party will continue the momentum it has been able to garner, through the ‘Congressor 5 Guarantee’ yatra which will take place in constituencies across all 33 districts of Assam,” a statement from Bobbeeta Sharma, chairperson of the APCC media department, said.

The yatras will be spearheaded by various senior leaders of the party, who will be consistently communicating with the grassroots, through engaging events in all constituencies, during their yatras.

The ‘Congressor 5 Guarantee’ yatra will be flagged off by AICC general secretary in-charge of Assam Jitendra Singh who will be accompanied by Lok Sabha member and chairman of the campaign committee, Pradyut Bordoloi at Paschim Nagaon, near Jagiroad town on March 11.

“Lok Sabha member and manifesto committee chairman Gaurav Gogoi will commence his yatra from Haleswar Temple in Tezpur at 2:15 pm,” the statement further said.

President All-India Mahila Congress and outreach committee chairman Sushmita Dev will initiate her yatra on March 13 from Gandhi Park in Silchar.

“The ‘Congressor 5 Guarantee’ yatra will be powerfully programmed, under the tagline of ‘Ahi Ase Congress Guaranteer Soite’ (Congress is coming, with guarantee) which will amplify the slogan of, ‘Congressor ai 5 Guarantee: Kio aru Kenekoi, Ahok Kotha Patu’ (Congress is coming with 5 guarantee: Why and how? Let’s talk),” Bobbeeta Sharma said.

“The party is certain, that with its immense display of proactive affinity towards the people of Assam, the countdown to bid adieu to the saffron regime has been set in motion,” she added.
