A couple in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang district has donated a plot of land to set up a model village with modern facilities.

The land measuring 22000 sq meter of the couple – Minli Tato and Gibi Tato – is located below the BRTF road in between Kerang and Keak village. The village will be named as Minli-Gibi or MG village.

“The couple has been making all efforts to make it a model village and after three years of continuous and joint effort by the couple and dwellers could now see road connectivity, children park, playground and nine well-built uniform dwelling houses,” said a statement of district public relations office.

Minli Tato said that drainage system, rearing of livestock away from the dwelling places, granary at planned location, impoverished toilets and electrification facilities among others are being worked out from various sources.

He lamented that though the village is a notified one, many things are left undone as it is yet to be taken up in the village census.

The jungle land above the roadside belonging to him will also be spared for the villagers for construction of prayer centre and help in mitigating the usage of forest materials in the day to day activities of the households.

The MG village will formally be inaugurated after fulfilling all basic needs of the village.

During a programme held recently, the couple also distributed bicycles and other study materials among the school going students of the locality.
