The Meghalaya government on March 30 asked all individuals with travel history to undergo self-quarantine in their respective home to prevent the outbreak of COVID-19 in the state.

“In the prevailing COVID-19 situation, there is an urgent need to ensure the safety of the citizens of the State through effective quarantine of all individuals with travel history. Further, contact tracing will also have to be done in the eventuality of a larger outbreak,” Commissioner and Secretary for Health and Family Welfare Department, P Sampath Kumar said.

Under the provisions of the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020, Kumar said that all persons who have been recommended for home isolation/ quarantine by the Government of Meghalaya based on registration on the meghalayaonline.gov.in/covid portal or those who have registered on 108 helplines or through other helplines should now download the app Stay Safe Meghalaya using the link https://tsfr.io/jjry5k and agree to share their location till they are under home isolation.

“An SMS message with the instructions for downloading the app will be sent to the registered mobile numbers of all the individuals mandated to be under home isolation,” he said.
