Bharatiya Janata Party star campaigner and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Ajay Mohan Bisht, aka Yogi Adityanath, on March 23 said that the rich culture and identity of Assam can only be protected by the saffron party.

Addressing an election rally in Silchar, Adityanath said: “Tea gardens, Kamakhya temple, Brahmaputra speak volumes about the rich historical treasure of the state of Assam. The identity and rich culture of the state can only be protected by BJP.”

Launching a scathing attack on the opposition, the UP CM said that the BJP-led government has been at the forefront and has contributed to Assam’s progress which was ignored during the Congress regime.

“They had intentionally neglected the region putting a stop to the wheel of development here,” he said.

Ahead of the assembly elections in Assam, Adityanath addressed three public rallies at Udharbond, Silchar, and Borkhola assembly constituencies on March 23.

Applauding BJP’s work in Assam, the Uttar Pradesh CM said: “In the last six years, there was no discrimination done by the government. People are reaping benefits from the schemes like Kisan Nidhi, PM Housing, Ayushman Bharat, etc of the BJP government. Likewise, once again the double-engine government is necessary for the state.”
