Guwahati marked the Independence Day in style. The stage was all set for Freedom Ride 2017 and the overwhelming response that the event received from all cyclists of Guwahati was exceptional.

The organizers, Guwahati Cycle Tour, took special care of all the cyclists since the time they assembled at the Latasil Field. Over 170 cyclists registered for the event apart from more than 30 cyclists who were members of the organizing group and other affiliated groups.

The ride was flagged off at 6:45 am by U-19 Indian cricketer Riyan Parag and Lopamudra Gohain Dev who represented India in the Junior Wushu World Cup.

The total ride was for 23 kms whereby the cyclists have started from Latasil Field and travelled to Ulubari via Guwahati Club to Paltan Bazaar followed by Jalukbari and back to Latasil.

GCT members said that they are pleased with the response and the motive of organizing the ride was fulfilled. They said that more people should take up cycling as a mode of communication and work for a carbon-neutral environment.
