Dimapur Police gifts bamboo barricades to Delhi Police

As a goodwill gesture, Dimapur Police donated barricades made of bamboo to Delhi Police for managing traffic in the national capital.

Dimapur Police, through a tweet on October 28, informed that they sent 40 such barricades made of bamboo to Delhi Police. The police in Dimapur were using such barricades since August 4 when commissioner of police Dimapur, Rothihu Tetseo officially launched the bamboo barricades.

Reports said that the ‘aatmanirbhar’ idea of using bamboo barricades was first conceptualized by unit officer T Henthai Phom NPS, ACP Traffic Zone II in Nagaland.

Phom said that the motivation and idea also came about from PM’s Modi’s vision of self-reliance through the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan programme pushing ‘Vocal for Local’.

Keeping in mind the vision of PM Modi, Dimapur Police came up with the idea of using bamboo barricades as the materials were locally available in plenty, with low cost for production and low maintenance, besides encouraging local entrepreneurs, commissioner of police Dimapur, Rothihu Tetseo, had said on August 4.
