The district administration and chief animal husbandry & veterinary officer at Mokokchung district of Nagaland have informed that there were reports of death of pigs in Tuli area in Mokokchung district in the last couple of weeks.

In this regard, the department stated it was doing an investigation for the cause of the deaths which may take some time.

In the meantime, the general public has been informed to be careful and not buy and consume pork purchased from unknown sources.

Outbreak of African Swine Fever was reported a week ago in Longleng district of Nagaland and in the surrounding areas. As such, the Nagaland government has taken up immediate measures.

The Longleng district administration said that an outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) has been reported at Tangha village and the confirmatory report on the same was received by the chief veterinary officer of Longleng district on May 11.
