Continuing the state-wide ‘war on drugs’, Assam Police on May 31 seized a massive consignment of 570 kg of illegal drugs amounting to Rs 1 crore in Kokrajhar district.
The consignment of drugs was seized by the police at Srirampur in Kokrajhar during a routine frisking of vehicles.
The consignment was recovered from the driver’s cabin of a truck.
Two persons have also been arrested by the police in connection with the recovery.
“A truck was intercepted at Srirampur and 51 packets of drugs, weighing 572.8 kg and worth Rs 1 crore recovered. Two persons were arrested. The secret compartment in the driver’s cabin couldn’t save the carriers,” police said.
