Durga Puja festivities came to an end on Tuesday with the immersion of idols on Vijaya Dashami.

The celebrations were unique in Assam’s Karimganj district as more than two hundred Durga idols from both India and Bangladesh were immersed in the Kushiyara river.

Durga idols from Karimganj in Assam and Jakiganj in Sylhet division of Bangladesh were immersed in the Kushiyara river on October 8.

The idols were brought on boats and personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh jointly guarded during the immersion process.

Thousands of devotees from both sides of the border witnessed the immersion of idols.
