Election campaigning for the first phase of the 12th Manipur legislative assembly elections concluded at 4 pm in 38 assembly segments of Manipur on February 26.

The first phase of elections will be held on February 28.

Election officials said that as the silent period has started, there is a ban on political campaigning. The presence of political functionaries from outside the constituency was also restricted.

All election-related matters shall not be telecast /broadcast in radio, TV or similar apparatus, without pre-certification by state/district media certification and monitoring committee (MCMC).

Public meetings, procession among others will also be prohibited.

No person shall propagate any election matter to the public by holding, or by arranging the holding of any musical concert or any theatrical performance or any other entertainment or amusement to attract the members of the public thereto, in any polling area, it was added.
