The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport in Guwahati, now managed by the Adani group, has taken several initiatives to make the airport services better.

The new operator of the Guwahati airport, GIAL, has initiated a series of quality initiatives aiming at Adani Business Excellence certification.

Senior VP Pankaj Singh from Ahmedabad visited Guwahati airport on June 10 and addressed the key employees at the airport about quality initiatives like 5S, Kaizen, ISO, six-sigma certifications etc.

Besides quality initiatives, Singh appealed to the airport staffs to take up initiatives and prompt actions in respect of environmental, social and governance concern.

“Replacement of fuel operated vehicles by electric vehicles, substantial generation of clean energy are also to be taken up actively at airport,” a statement from the airport said.

Speaking on the occasion, Utpal Baruah, chief airport officer, Guwahati airport expressed his happiness for taking up such timely initiatives that will contribute towards environment protection and productivity at the airport.

Recently more than 10,000 flower pots and plants were being placed at the airport premises to give a green face-lift to the airport.
