Financial aid for athlete Amlan Borgohain

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma gave Rs 5 lakh to athlete Amlan Borgohain to help him for better preparation for the upcoming 2022 Asian Games slated to be held in Hangzhou.

Amlan Borgohain who recently created a new national record in men’s 200m held at Calicut in Kerala, already cleared the qualifying time for the 2022 Asian Games to be held in September 2022.

Sarma while rendering this financial assistance to help the athlete’s training and nutrition purposes for the games also wished him a good show at the event.

The chief minister recently met Amlan in his office on April 22.

Reliance foundation Odisha athletics high-performance centre (HPC) athlete Amlan Borgohain is all set to fly to Spain for a month-long training session.

It is learnt that altogether seven athletes will fly to Tenerife in Spain for the training. The exposure tour is supported and directed by HPC head coach James Hillier and Reliance foundation Odisha athletics HPC.

Amlan was first spotted by the Reliance foundation sports ecosystem in 2017, where he was invited to the Reliance foundation youth sports (RFYS) elite camp. In the 2018 RFYS nationals finals, he clocked 10.84 seconds in 100m and 22.06 seconds in 200m.

Since April 2020, Amlan has been training under Reliance foundation Odisha athletics HPC head coach James Hillier in Bhubaneswar.
