At least three persons have died in floods and landslides in Assam as the flood situation turned grim. While floods claimed one life each in Golaghat and Dhemaji districts, landslide claimed another person in Guwahati.

More than 2 lakh people in 11 districts of the state have been affected so far. Several rivers, including the Brahmaputra, are in spate across the state. Relief camps have been opened in many parts to shelter the displaced population.

In Guwahati, incessant rains have claimed one life and injured another. Police said rock and mud fell on the house of one Narayan Shah in Gorchuk area of the city, leading to the death of Shah.

While his wife and son had managed to rush out from the house when the debris hit the house, Shah could not escape and was mortally wounded.

In another incident of a landslide in the Deepor Beel area, one person sustained head injuries when debris rolled down and destroyed their house.  Incessant rains have been lashing the city over the past two days, causing artificial floods in many areas.
