Former Manipur CM Okram Ibobi Singh calls BJP-led govt as propaganda govt

Congress legislative party leader in Manipur and former chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh on October 21 said the BJP-led government in the state has failed to discharge its duties in every sphere and termed it as a “propaganda government”.

Speaking at the flag hoisting ceremony of the Congress candidate Salam Joy Singh for Wangoi byelections, Ibobi Singh said during the earlier Congress regime developmental schemes were taken up for rural population as rural area consists of 70 per cent in the country.

“When Congress was in power, the National Food Security Act and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme were initiated,” he said. Ibobi Singh added that the BJP government has not been able to extend the 100 days of employment guaranteed by MGNREGS to 200 days.

He further said the BJP government has also failed to reduce the price of rice from Rs 3/kg for those who were below poverty line under NFSA. “The present government is more focused on changing the names of the already existing schemes,” he added.
