Former Shillong Lajong FC player, K Laldingliana from Assam Regiment has been awarded the Sena Medal (Gallantry Award) for his significant contributions to the country.

Laldingliana represented Shillong Lajong FC from 2007 to 2008. He played in the 2nd division I-league for Lajong in 2008.

His former club took to social media to congratulate Laldingliana on August 18.

“Heartiest congratulations to former Shillong Lajong FC player, K Laldingliana from Assam Regiment after it was announced that he will be awarded the Sena Medal (Gallantry Award) for his significant contributions to the country,” Shillong Lajong posted on their Instagram handle.

A native of Mizoram, Laldingliana also played for Meghalaya when the state became Champions of the North East Meet in Sikkim.

He is with the 42nd Battalion Rashtriya Rifles of the Assam Regiment.

President Ram Nath Kovind, who is also the supreme commander of the armed forces, has approved 84 awards and decorations to the armed forces personnel and members of the paramilitary forces.

The awards include one Kirti Chakra, nine Shaurya Chakras, five bar to Sena Medals (Gallantry), 60 Sena Medals (Gallantry), four Nao Sena Medals (Gallantry) and five Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry).

The president has also approved 19 Mention-in-Despatches to the Army Personnel for their significant contributions in different military operations which include eight posthumous for ‘Operation Meghdoot’ and ‘Operation Rakshak’.
