Guwahati-Howrah Saraighat Special train derails

Four coaches of Guwahati-Howrah Special Express train were derailed near Chaygaon railway station in Assam’s Kamrup district on August 25.

There was no report of any casualty in the incident.

According to the NF Railway, the 02346 Guwahati – Howrah Special Express which left Guwahati station at about 12:20 pm on August 25 derailed at KM 136/5-6 near Chaygaon station at about 1:36 pm in the Guwahati — Goalpara — New Bongaigaon section under Rangiya division of NF Railway.

Four coaches of the train, including the pantry car, derailed. There was no injury or any casualty to any passenger. Passengers of the affected coaches were shifted to other coaches.

Accident Relief Train and Accident Relief Medical Equipment train immediately rushed to the site and senior railway officials from NF Railway also rushed to the spot.

There was no official comment on the cause of derailment.

Necessary assistance was being provided to the passengers and restoration work had started.
