Four persons died of COVID-19 in Manipur on October 29 while 242 new cases were detected and 163 persons recovered during the day in the state.

In the last 24 hours, three persons from Imphal East and one from Imphal West expired due to COVID-19 related complications. The cumulative number of deaths in the state went up to 160.

During the day, 232 persons from general population and 10 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases.

Medical officials said that all from the general population are locals without any significant travel history. They were being shifted to the COVID Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing were in place.

On October 29, as many as 163 people were discharged from the COVID Care Centres, hospital and home quarantine after theu recovered from the viral infection.

Manipur now has recorded 18,051 positive cases of COVID-19 while 13,583 of them recovered. The number of active cases was 4,308.

On October 29, Health department spokesperson Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang informed that there was no scarcity of testing kits in the state. Mangang said that there are adequate stocks of RT-PCR, TrueNat and RAT kits in the state.
