Freelance journalist arrested in Official Secrets Act case by Delhi Police

A freelance journalist, based in Delhi, has been arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell after he was allegedly found to be in possession of classified documents, the police said on September 18.

According to police, Rajeev Sharma, a resident of Pitampura in New Delhi and who works as a freelance journalist, has been arrested in a case of Official Secrets Act, related to the possession of Defence related classified documents.

The probe in the matter is underway, the police added.

He is presently under police custody.

Reportedly, Sharma had earlier worked with several media outfits including news agency, newspapers and news websites.
