Gauhati University

The Gauhati University has cancelled a cultural night which was to be held on December 14 as part of the talent search competitions organized by the Postgraduate Students’ Union of the university after detection of COVID-19 cases among some of the students.

A notification issued by the registrar of Gauhati University said: “In view of screening being undertaken by the Government of Assam in last seven days and consequent upon the detection of COVID-19 cases among some of the university hostel dwellers, it is notified for all concerned that as per the directives of the vice chancellor, Gauhati University, the cultural night on December 14 of the talent search competitions being organized by the Post Graduate Students’ Union is hereby cancelled.”

“All hostels of the university will remain closed from December 15 to December 19 and all classes have been suspended from December 15 to December 19,” said the notification issued on December 13.

The Gauhati University authority has also prohibited entry of outsiders during the period.

However, offices of the university will run with minimum functioning.
