This gesture by IAS officer Armstrong Pame will inspire school kids

A school kid often wonders what it takes to become a top officer… what’s inside those walls housing top officials. As a child, IAS officer Armstrong Pame too wanted to see how top officials conduct themselves. He never got a chance.

In an inspiring gesture, the Manipur’s Tamenglong district deputy commissioner announced that he will invite 10 school kids every Friday to have dinner at his residence. Also, the selected class 5-10 students will be allowed to witness the post-lunch working at the deputy commissioner’s office.

“As a kid, I used to walk past the DC bungalow and the office… really wanted to see what’s there but never got to… Now being here as DC, let me invite the school kids to share a dinner table with me. Hope this will give them a zeal to do well to live their dreams…” Armstrong Pame wrote on Facebook.

His official letter said that the students will be given an opportunity to express their dreams/visions and shall also be asked to express their desire as how they wish to see the district in future days to come.

The announcement has since gone viral and netizens are congratulating and thanking the IAS officer for his inspiring gesture.

Armstrong Pame, deputy commissioner of Tamenglong district in Manipur, was hailed by citizens, along with the national and international media, for his self-driven initiative to construct a 100-km road connecting Manipur with Nagaland, along with the help from villagers and well wishers.
