Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday said that his government is working to strengthen unity among the people belonging to all places in the Barak, Brahmaputra, hills and plains and stimulate equal development of all.

Speaking at the 14th biennial conference of All Assam Bengali Youth Students’ Federation at Tangla in Udalguri district on Saturday, the chief minister said that Bengalis are an integral part of the greater Assamese society. Therefore, people belonging to Bengali community will have to work in tandem to help Assam to tread the path of prosperity.

Referring to ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikash’, Sonowal said that the central and state governments have been working relentlessly for the equal growth and development of the people.

While thanking All Assam Bengali Youth Students’ Federation for organising the conference to highlight several problems that the people belonging to the community are confronted with, Sonowal said that his government is committed to the protection of interests and safeguard dignity of the people belonging to the community.

Stating that the present government has been working for the development of the people belonging to all areas, Sonowal said that the present dispensation besides dedicating the broad-gauge rail connectivity between Silchar and Lumding, introducing eight new train services from Silchar to various parts of the country, direct train from Dibrugarh to Silchar and flight services between Dibrugarh and Silchar, an array of schemes have been initiated to bolster equal development of both Barak and Brahmaputra Valley.
