Growing demand for company secretaries in Northeast region, says ICSI president
Institute of Company Secretaries of India To Award Tezpur University BCom(H) Topper Every Year
The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) on Monday announced its partnership with Tezpur University for awarding excellence in education.
In an interaction with the media in Guwahati, ICSI president Makarand Lele stated that the institute will provide signature award to the BCom (H) topper of the Tezpur University under the integrated MCom program.
“We are pleased to announce our partnership with Tezpur University today. Besides, we have introduced a new syllabus for CS executive and CS professional programs today,” the ICSI president said.
Commenting on the partnership, registrar at Tezpur University, Biren Das, said that the course at the university is already providing value additions in the form of Tally and Finacle certificates. “The signature award will further motivate the students to excel in their studies. We are Tezpur University always believe in associating with the industry to make education well rounded. These initiatives will help the students in the long run,” Das said.
The ICSI announced revised syllabus of the Company Secretary course and informed that it is already effective since March 1. The first examination for CS executive and CS professional programmes under new syllabus will be held in December 2018 and June 2019 respectively.
“For those who want to sit for these examinations, the last date for form submission is March 31. Also, we want to inform you that there is a special fee waiver scheme for Northeast students. We want to increase the pool of company sectaries from the region and this initiative is a way towards that goal,” ICSI president Makarand Lele said.
Speaking about the rise in demand for GST compliance professionals, the ICSI president said that the institute is already working with National Skill Development Mission (NSDC) to impart proper training to professionals. “We took to challenge thrown by PM Narendra Modi to educate and skill 1 lakh students in GST compliance. Our MoU with NSDC is a way towards that goal,” Lele said.
