Guwahati is buzzing yet again as the city plays host to two major sports competitions – the first home match of the Indian Super League 2017-18 and AIBA Youth Women’s World Boxing Championships.

The first match of the NorthEast United FC will be played at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati on November 18. The match against Jamshedpur FC is important for the home side as they look to get on to a winning start after their dismal performance in the past seasons. For the visiting side, this will be their first appearance at the Indian Super League as they make their debut this season.

As Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal envisions, Guwahati is hosting the AIBA Youth Women’s World Boxing Championships from November 19-26. The championship will see more than 190 boxers from 39 countries fighting for the medals.
