Joseph Marak, one of the labourers, who sustained serious injuries when he was allegedly hit by former model Rajkanya Baruah, breathed his last at Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati on November 10.
“It’s unfortunate that Joseph Marak was declared dead at 10 am today,” GMCH superintendent Abhijit Sarma informed the media.
He was admitted to the hospital on October 2 and following the surgery on his knee, Joseph was kept in the ICU for observation.
Sarma said that Joseph had developed a sudden cardiac arrest on November 10 morning. Though he was revived for a while, he breathed his last after some time.
On October 1 night, eight labourers were allegedly hit and injured by a speeding vehicle being driven by former model Rajkanya Baruah.
The other labourers were released from the hospital after treatment. However, Joseph’s injury was severe. He had lost both of his legs.
On November 5, Dispur Police submitted the chargesheet to the court.
