Electrical goods company Havells India Limited has been recognised as the “Factory Having Best Compliance under Factories (Amendment) Act, 1987, Non-Tea Sector” in Assam. The company was adjudged basis an exhaustive survey that was done by the Labour department, Government of Assam across all manufacturing industries and all tea-estates in the state.

The award to Havells is the first time ever that a manufacturing company has been selected for this award. The award was felicitated during a ceremony by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on the occasion of “Shramik Kalyan Divas” at Kotalgoorie Tea Estate Field in Mariani on November 23.

Speaking on the occasion, Ameet Kumar Gupta, Whole time Director, Havells India Limited said, “We are delighted to be recognised as the first manufacturing company to achieve the award for best compliance in Assam.  This award establishes our efforts of zero tolerance towards non-compliant regulations. Havells not only embraces innovative approach but also adheres to regulations as the catalyst of organizational growth”.

Shramik Kalyan Divas (Labour Welfare Day) is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Santosh Kumar Topno, a prominent labour leader of Assam. The programme celebrated the potential of the tea workers and ensures dignified life for them.
