The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) in Meghalaya has announced its plans to organise various programmes on January 21 to celebrate the state’s golden jubilee.

Speaking to media persons, HSPDP youth wing president, Sanbor Ryntathiang said that as part of the celebration, the party will be organizing a bike rally from Shillong to Mawthadrishan on January 21.

“As a part of the golden jubilee celebration (of Meghalaya), the party along with the bike rally will also be holding various workshops and seminars on the sixth schedule and eight schedules of the constitution where scholars noted and educationists from the state and outside the state will be as resource persons,” said Ryntathiang.

Ryntathiang then said that the party will also be holding an essay competition for the public on ‘Khasi-Jaintia State’ and this essay competition will also be both in online and offline mode.

He added that the Hill State People’s Democratic Party will sponsor two children who come from below the poverty line (BPL) to complete their education.

“The party understands that education is the most important factor to uplift the society hence the party will identify two students who come from BPL families and the party will sponsor them so that they can complete their education,” he added.

Meanwhile, the HSPDP youth wing also paid homage to the family of Neil Nongkynrih who was the founder, mentor and conductor of the Shillong Chamber Choir who passed away on January 5 in Mumbai.
