Film buffs in the region are already excited as Guwahati is set to host the first edition of Guwahati International Film Festival from October 28.
“A promo-team visited various colleges and institutions over the past few days and the response was very positive. We are witnessing a good spike in the number of delegate registrations,” said a GIFF organizing team member.
A team of GIFF organizing committee members visited Tezpur University, Darrang College, JB College, Jorhat Engineering College, Assam Agriculture University, Sivasagar College, Sivasagar Commerce College and Assam School of Journalism among others and informed the students about the films being screened at the festival, eminent film personalities participating in the open house sessions and what all a delegate registration would enable them.
“Registering as a delegate will enable free access to witness some of the best world films. The country of focus will be Turkey and we will have a bouquet of films from Turkey for the cine lovers. Also, the Indian Panorama, Films from Northeast and Films from Assam should attract good audience,” said festival director Monita Borgohain.
Guwahati International Film Festival is being organized by Jyoti Chitraban (Film Studio) Society with the support of Assam government in association with Dr Bhupen Hazarika Regional Government Film and Television Institute. The festival will take place at Guwahati from October 28-November 2 at two locations: Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra and Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio.
