International drug smuggler held, Rs 400 cr worth drug seized in Manipur

Manipur police seized 40 lakh WY (World is Yours) drugs worth about Rs 400 crore in Imphal on August 23 night. Five persons, including a foreign national, were also arrested.

Thoubal district SP, S Ibomcha Singh paraded the three persons and exhibited the drugs at Thoubal. He said different teams of police and members of various local clubs were involved the series of drives taken out last night.

He said a truck was detained and the driver identified as Mohammad Hussain revealed the presence of the drugs inside the truck. All were hidden inside the truck. The operation continued and a Myanmar national identified as Abdul Rahim of Yangon was arrested from Imphal airport. He was allegedly involved in international drug trafficking.

Mohammad Ayub Khan and Md Abdul Razak of Thoubal district who assisted the movement were also arrested.

In another incident, one Md Hefajuddin of Thoubal district was nabbed with drug worth Rs 10 crores. Recently, two drug factories located at Thoubal district were also busted by Manipur Police.
