The first junior national boxing championship started in Guwahati on Wednesday at the Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan Indoor Stadium at Nehru Stadium premises.

Altogether 350 boxers, 160 technical officials including the coaches, referees and judges and other technical officials from 34 state and associations are participating in this championship.

The winners in this championship will get direct entry for the upcoming international boxing championship in Philippines.

The championship will continue till July 17. This is the second major boxing championship in the city after the first Elite (senior) National Boxing Championship in December last year.
