Upcoming Assamese film Local Utpaat by Kenny Basumatary has successfully raised Rs 10 Lakh from more than 1230 backers through a crowdfunding campaign.

The entertaining team behind the hit Local Kung Fu films and popular YouTube channel Heavy Budget, called on cine lovers to generously donate for their upcoming comedy Local Utpaat.

After the successful crowdfunding campaign on wishberry.in which was ongoing till February 23, Local Utpaat is expected to be released on September 4. The shooting of the film was already over.

“I am really lucky to have such a supportive circle of cast, crew and family. Hopefully, this is the last time we’ll have to ask for help, because if Local Utpaat recovers its budget, then we can recycle that same money to make subsequent films. I want to make films in different genres – romantic comedy, horror, murder mystery, Local Kung Fu 3 etc etc,” said writer-director-actor Kenny Basumatary in an earlier interaction with TNM.

The teaser of Local Utpaat was released on February 11 and subsequent behind the scenes were released on the social media throughout the crowdfunding campaign.

The lead pair in Local Utpaat are Bonny Deori and Poonam Gurung. Bonny is famous as Bonzo, the number 1 Under-18 don from Local Kung Fu and also from his work on the Heavy Budget comedy channel. Poonam was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Prag Cine Awards for her outstanding work in Suspended Inspector Boro. The rest of the cast comprises the usual Local Kung Fu / Heavy Budget gang, with new additions being Himanshu Gogoi and Kaushik Nath from the much acclaimed film Bornodi Bhotiai.

Kenny promises that the film is an out-and-out comedy that you can watch repeatedly with all your friends and family.
