Located half an hour’s drive to the north of Indo-Bangladesh border near Dawki, Krang Shuri falls in Meghalaya is a pristine beauty. With most parts of urban Northeast under heat-wave, Krang Shuri falls has become the perfect weekend getaway for many; especially in Guwahati.

“Guwahati is too hot these days. Escaping to Shillong isn’t an option either as the place over the years has seen the effect of global warming. Krang Shuri falls is a place where the crowd is thin and you can make the most of the scenic beauty presented by the place,” said Prashanta Talukdar, a student from Guwahati.

Located nearby the sleepy town of Amlarem, which is about 95 kms from Shillong, Krang Shuri falls is one of the top five waterfalls in Meghalaya, and probably will find a place among the top in the entire Northeast.

The local authorities developed the falls into a tourist destination with proper footpaths leading to the falls. Also, standing viewpoints and necessary safety equipments like life-jackets are there to let the visitors capture the beauty of the waterfalls and its surroundings.

Want to take a ride? The Guwahati-Jowai-Dawki road is smooth and will be a perfect match for your weekend drive. A hot mashala Maggie after a dip (remember, don’t try to dive from the top) at the falls accompanied with foggy-cloudy-chilly weather…aah, my next weekend plan is also set!
