Love for quality independent cinema isn’t dying. Bonzo’s gimmicks and his chemistry with KK (don’t ask the full name!), Charlie da’s rise from ‘asses’ and Montu’s fights; were an instant hit among the audience when they saw Local Kung Fu. And this Bihu, Local Kung Fu 2 is set to release as it completes its popular crowdfunding campaign on Wishberry.in with an amazing response.

Director Kenny Basumatary started the campaign on Wishberry.in to raise Rs 8 lakhs to fund the post-production of the film which was an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors. As we report, around 5 hours left for the campaign to end, the Local Kung Fu 2 team has already managed more than Rs 8 lakhs from 465 backers. Indeed, the fans are pumping their heart out!

The film, shot in both Assamese and Hindi, will now be released on April 19 or April 21, as was announced earlier during the campaign. The News Mill couldn’t verify the exact release date after the completion of the campaign target.

Local Kung Fu, released in 2013, became a part of the pop culture phenomenon in the Northeast as the dialogues still find their way in regular conversations.

Editor’s Note: An earlier version of the report mentioned that more than Rs 15 lakhs was raised through the campaign. This was because of a technical glitch.
