Manipur government has decided to enforce total lockdown in some parts of the state from 6 pm on October 17 considering the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in the state.

In the past 24 hours, 304 persons from general population and 33 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases.

The state also reported five causalities due to the viral infection on October 16. The total toll has increased to 109.

On October 16, 164 patients were discharged after they recovered from the disease.

The cumulative number of positive cases was 14,715 while the number of active cases stand at 3361. As many as 11,245 persons recovered from the disease.
