Suspected militants triggered a bomb at the gate of a policeman’s residence in Imphal West district of Manipur on April 20 night, police said on April 21. No human casualty was reported in the blast.

The bomb suspected to be a hand grenade exploded at the main entrance gate of police personnel Oinam Karnajit Singh’s residence at Samurou Mamang Leikai under Wangoi police station in Imphal West district of Manipur.

In yet another incident, an IED was found planted at the gate of a police sub-inspector’s residence posted at Lamphel police station of Imphal West district, police said.

The IED was found at the gate of sub-inspector Chabungbam Prasanta Singh (30) at Thangmeiband Watham Leirak under Lamphel police station of Imphal West district on April 20 night.

According to police, the IED was later defused by the personnel of the state police bomb detection and disposal squad last night itself, a police source said.

The IED was found in a black polythene bag when a team of police rushed to the spot on being informed by family members after an unattended polythene bag was found at the gate.

Lamphel police has registered a case and initiated investigation, Manipur Police added.
