Manipur CM flags off Imphal-Mao bus service

Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on March 30 inaugurated a direct bus service between Imphal and Mao run by Manipur State Transport (MST).

The bus service was started with the goal of providing a safe, dependable, affordable and long-term public transportation service. CM Biren Singh, speaking at the event, claimed that the bus service was established with the goal of maintaining better ties between residents of border villages and urban regions.

Biren Singh said that with improved transportation facilities, links between the citizens will increase.

He noted that when the BJP-led government came to power in 2017, the Manipur State Road Transport Corporation, which had been inactive for a long time, was resurrected as Manipur State Transport. The chief minister stated that roughly 28 buses were providing transportation services across the state and that the government was in the process of obtaining three more buses.

He further said that the state government was aiming to reopen the current bus station in Dimapur, citing the need of maintaining bus service to Dimapur for Mao residents. He also noted that due to the high demand for transportation, the bus service will be increased.

The chief minister stated that frequent bus service between Imphal and Mao will help Mao residents promote their local products and boost the state’s overall economic activity.

The new bus plying from Imphal to Mao will depart from Nagamapal, RIMS Road Corner near Kasturi Thong at 7 am and 2:30 pm on all working days while the bus from Mao to Imphal will depart from Mao Bus Parking, near Traffic Island, Mao at 6 am and 2:30 pm.
