Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on October 5 inspected Biofloc Fish Farming at the residence of fish farmer Longjam Boss Meitei at Wangjoi Thounaojam Leikai in Imphal West district.

The chief minister appreciated Longjam Boss Meitei for being a successful and pioneer fish farmer using Biofloc fish farming technology in the state.

Singh opined that anybody can practice such fish farming system as it requires a minimal area. He also advised the officials of Fisheries department to conduct training programme on fish farming using Biofloc Technology and create awareness among the fish farmers about the merits of Biofloc fish farming.

Biofloc technology is an eco-friendly technique by enhancing water quality in aquaculture by recycling nutrients and maintaining the water quality.
