Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh handed over 10,000 hand sanitizers and facemasks to the Manipur Police and 1000 hand sanitizers and face masks to the Transport department on April 28.

The hand sanitizers and facemasks were arranged by the General Administration Department (GAD), Government of Manipur from the funds of Corporate Social Responsibility sponsored by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

DGP LM Khaute and Transport Director Mercina R Panmei received the items from the chief minister on behalf of the Manipur Police department and the Transport department respectively. Half of the masks were made by local private enterprises while the other half was surgical masks.

Singh also handed over Rs 35 lakh to the Manipur Police department and Rs 10 lakh to the Transport department from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to procure hand sanitizers and other personal protective items for use by those working in the frontline in tackling COVID-19.

The chief minister thanked the Airports Authority of India for extending assistance to the state government at this hour of need. He said that the authority has been helping the state government from time to time under its CSR scheme.
