Manipur extends COVID-19 SOPs till January 20

The Manipur government has extended the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions across the state till January 20, 2022.

An order issued by the state executive committee of the state disaster management on December 21 stated that standard operating procedures (SOPs) to be followed in respect of opening of educational institutions, social gatherings, operation of swimming pools and also night curfew has been extended till January 20, 2022.

The advisory issued by the Union ministry of health and family welfare on November 15 and the order of the same ministry issued on December 4 in view of the reported spread of variant of concern for implementation of prompt and effective containment measures for COVID-19 will also be effective in the state, the order stated.

The order also directed all DCs and SPs of districts to ensure strict enforcement of mandatory wearing of face masks at all gatherings. Deputy commissioners were further asked to issue orders making it a direct responsibility of the event organizers.

11 fresh COVID-19 cases in Manipur

The COVID-19 infection tally in Manipur rose to 1,25,661 with the detection of 11 more fresh cases in the last 24 hours. The fatality toll remained at 1,995 with no death related to the pandemic occurring during the same period, according to the health department.

The number of active cases in the state stood at 205 as 10 patients were discharged upon recovery against the 11 fresh cases. The cumulative number of recovered cases in the state rose to 1,23,461 with the addition of the 10 discharges. The recovery rate of the state stood at 98.25%.
